Boston Logan International Airport General Information

Logan international airport located in east Boston Massachusetts is one of the busiest airports in the United States. Catering to over 26 million passengers a year, this airports retail management is handled by BAA. Logan international airport covers an area of 2,384 acres with six runways to accommodate the high number of aircrafts landing and taking off every minute. The airport offers services to Canada, Caribbean, Mexico, Europe, United States and Cape Verde islands.

This 12th busiest airport in the United States employs over 12,000 workers and contributes largely to the economy of Boston. The former Boston Airport now called Logan International Airport was opened in 1923 and was used by the Army Air Corps and the Air Guards. In 1927, the first commercial passenger flights by Colonial Air started operations. As the airport became a major service spot, it had to be expanded by an extra 1800 acres. International flights filled the airport and as a result the international terminal E was opened. From then on the number of international passengers at this terminal has tripled. Today this terminal has been upgraded and is now an elegant and impressive facility. Major car rental companies at this airport include Dollar, Enterprize, Budget, Hertz, Alamo and National.

To reduce airfield traffic a new centerfield taxi way has been created. All the terminals at Logan international airport are connected by shuttles, walkways and trains. These also link passengers and workers to the central parking garage
